1 Easter Disco - accounts / feedback
• Net income was £1535.40 (£106.16 more than last year).
• Income from raffle tickets was down on last year: although tickets sold out on the day, there were many tickets sent home with children that were not sold and not returned. Next year we will need to ensure that people return tickets that they do not intend to buy.
• Food and drink sold well, and there was good feedback on the food
• Many committee members received feedback from parents disappointed about their children missing out on tickets. It was agreed that it is not possible to run two discos on the one day: it is not attractive from the school’s perspective; and it is unfeasible given that we only just get enough volunteers/helpers to run one disco. We cannot sell more tickets, so the only way to improve the situation is to reduce demand. One approach would be to have a leaving event for year two to compensate for not offering them tickets for the Easter Disco
action [various] Easter Disco next year will only be for reception and year 1 children
2 Suttons Seeds update
• Orders totalling £345 have been placed, which translates into £67 net profit for FoDIS. Seeds, etc. have been delivered. Some products need to be planted in February, so it would be good next year to get order forms out earlier.
3 Gardening update
• Several aspects of the greenhouse need attention. Some matting is needed to stop the floor from getting slippery when wet. The door runners and lock need attention. In addition, there is hole in the roof, but this may not need immediate attention.
• Evergreen have been planted toward front of school to hide bins.
• Mary will organise reception children to plant seeds (with Caroline B) along the fence outside the reception classrooms adjoining the garage. These will need to be large single seeds - e.g. sunflowers (perhaps with a prize for the tallest sunflower) and/or other plants with large seeds. Another option would be to plant vegetables to harvest in September.
• The most recent gardening club was snowed out. In addition to volunteers coming on these days, Eloise reminded us that AmEx employees can be organised for gardening, painting, etc. on weekdays - perhaps a day during the half term break in late May.

4 Eyepoppers update
• Late returns are a problem, especially given the need to recoup the recent outlay on new stock.
action Eloise to clarify that late rentals will be charged for each week they are late
Reminder notes to go home for overdue DVDs/videos
5 Forthcoming expenditure
• Learning through landscapes does not provide an on-site advice service. However membership gives some information and access to a list of practitioners. So it may be worth joining for one year (£60) to see what we can get out of it.
action Caroline C to arrange membership
• “Grass saver” matting for path leading to reception classrooms from front gate
action Abi to check prices at Wyevale
• Picnic tables - perhaps one for outside each classroom. One possibility is recycled plastic versions.
• One possible major expenditure would be smartboards / interactive whiteboards for the reception classrooms. Each would cost around £3000 for equipment and installation. This could be identified as a major funding project for 2008-2009 and to draw attention to FoDIS events.
6 Events update
• Summer Fair will be held on Sunday 13 July. “Red, White, Rosé” has agreed to sponsor the bar. Other sponsor will be sought for particular activities (e.g. bouncy castle, sand art)
action Nick to contact potential sponsors
• Quiz Night 2 - possible dates are 6 June or 13 June. Date needs to be confirmed with Regine. We also need to check availability of Adam (?) to MC. Tickets will be cheaper than the first Quiz Night, and we will prepare food rather than buying in from Bardsley’s.s
action Caroline to check Adam’s availability
Deborah and Richard to organise
• Year 2 leavers event - possibly afternoon tea
• Year 2 T-shirts
• There was also discussion of an event in June (e.g. a teddy bears’ picnic) for children starting reception in September. This would be separate from the existing morning settling sessions.
