FODIS Newsletter

March 2008

We hope you had a good half term and are enjoying the lovely sunshine- spring has definitely sprung!

Gardening/DIY club

Now spring is in the air FODIS are launching a new Gardening/DIY club for parents. We will be meeting 10-1pm on the 9th March and then the 1st Sunday of every month. Jobs will include repainting fences, weeding, sorting out the pond and general maintenance of the playground area. If you would like to join us simply turn up in the school car park to find out more.

Suttons Seeds Fundraising Catalogue

You will also find attached to this newsletter a Suttons Seeds Fundraising Catalogue and an order form. Suttons will generously give us 20% of the order value we place, so please take a moment to look through. They have some lovely plants and a great selection of seeds. All orders will be delivered directly to you from Suttons. Closing Date for orders will be THURSDAY 20TH MARCH.

New purchases

We have purchased an incubator for Reception to watch chicks being hatched (Please note the children do not handle the chicks). Mrs Waller will be taking the chicks home to their new ‘Egg-Loo’ once they are hatched.
We have also paid for a fence to be built along side the Indoor Garden so that the grassy area is safer for the children to play on.

Spring Disco

The disco will be held on Friday 28th March 5.00pm-6.30pm. Details of how to buy tickets will go home in book bags soon.

Eyepoppers

Every Friday from 3-3.30pm. We have invested in a lot of new DVDs plus some Audio Books, so come along and take a look. All new releases (e.g. Ratatouille – new this month) will be £1.50 for the first 6 months. All other DVD/videos remain at £1. We still need some more volunteers to run the club. If you can spare half an hour once a month, please call Caroline on 07976303096. Please note donations of DVDs would be much appreciated, but we cannot accept any more videos.

All of the above information and more can be found on our new website www.fodis.org.uk. We will be developing it further to include pictures of events and children using items purchased with money raised by you (the new incubator and fence are available to see now). All news of forthcoming events will be posted on there too. Eventually we will have some children’s colouring and quiz pages. You will also be able to contact us via the website.

Committee Change

Lastly we would like to inform you of a change to the committee. Sadly, our Vice-Chair, Alison Laing has resigned due to work commitments. Alison worked exceptionally hard to make the Christmas Fair the success it was and she will be sorely missed. Nick Mills (Project Officer) has agreed to step up as Acting Vice-Chair.

That’s all for now! If you have any feedback or would like to become more involved with our fundraising, speak to your class rep or one of the committee.

Best wishes

Caroline
